These Terms of Service explain the rules for using the AIM Ireland website, joining or renewing membership, accessing member services, and taking part in related programmes, events, and online services.

By using our website, creating an account, joining AIM Ireland, renewing a membership, or taking part in a Friends of AIM arrangement, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the website or our services.

1. Who we are

Association of Independent Music Ireland (AIM Ireland) is the trade body for Ireland’s independent music sector.

2. Scope of these Terms

These Terms apply to:

  • visitors to the AIM Ireland website;
  • people who create an account or use any member portal;
  • Individual Members;
  • Company Members and their named representatives;
  • Student or other manually administered membership tiers, where applicable;
  • Friends of AIM Ireland and other approved supporters or partners, where applicable;
  • anyone registering for AIM Ireland events, training, briefings, or related online services.

Additional terms may apply to specific services, events, ticketing platforms, partner offers, or campaigns. If they do, those additional terms will apply alongside these Terms.

3. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, operations, legal requirements, or membership structure.

The latest version will always be posted on our website with the date of update. By continuing to use the website or services after an update takes effect, you agree to the revised Terms.

4. Using the website

You may use this website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not damage, disable, overburden, or impair the website or interfere with anyone else’s use of it.

You must not:

  • use the website for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or misleading activity;
  • try to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website, portal, server, or related systems;
  • introduce viruses, malicious code, or other harmful material;
  • copy, scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content, member information, directory data, or resources without permission;
  • use the website or member areas in a way that infringes the rights of AIM Ireland or any third party.

5. Accounts and portal access

Some parts of the website and services may require an account.

You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate and up-to-date information;
  • keeping your login details secure;
  • all activity carried out under your account;
  • telling us promptly if you believe your account has been used without authorisation.

We may suspend, restrict, or remove access where we reasonably believe there has been a breach of these Terms, misuse of the service, non-payment, inaccurate information, or conduct that risks harm to AIM Ireland, its members, or the wider community.

6. Membership categories

AIM Ireland may offer different categories of membership or participation, including Individual Membership, Company Membership, Student or other invite-only or manually administered tiers, and Friend of AIM Ireland arrangements.

The features, access rights, fees, voting rights, visibility settings, and eligibility criteria for each category may differ. The current description shown at the point of sign-up, renewal, invoice, or written agreement forms part of the relevant arrangement.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • full membership categories may include access to member services and governance rights relevant to that tier;
  • Friends of AIM Ireland are supporters or partners, not voting members;
  • some tiers may have restricted access to directory features or public listings;
  • some tiers may be administered manually rather than through public checkout.

7. Eligibility and approval

Membership or participation is intended for people and organisations connected with Ireland’s independent music sector, or for approved supporters and partners whose involvement is aligned with AIM Ireland’s purpose.

We may request information to assess eligibility. We may approve, refuse, defer, suspend, or terminate any application or participation where we reasonably consider that:

  • the applicant is not eligible;
  • the information provided is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • the application is inconsistent with AIM Ireland’s purpose or member interests;
  • approval would create a conflict, risk, or operational issue.

8. Company memberships and named representatives

Where a company or organisation joins AIM Ireland, the person completing the application confirms that they have authority to act on behalf of that organisation.

Company memberships may include a limited number of named representatives or seats, as described at the time of sign-up or renewal.

The company is responsible for:

  • nominating and updating its authorised representatives;
  • ensuring those representatives comply with these Terms;
  • ensuring login details are not shared outside the authorised users;
  • telling us promptly when a representative leaves or should no longer have access.

We may require representatives to use individual logins rather than shared credentials.

9. Fees, billing, and renewals

Membership and participation fees, where applicable, will be shown at checkout, in an invoice, or in a written agreement.

By joining or renewing, you agree to pay the applicable fee and any taxes or charges clearly stated at the point of payment.

Memberships are generally offered on an annual basis unless stated otherwise.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • access runs for the paid membership period;
  • renewal terms will be stated at checkout, on invoice, or in a written agreement;
  • failure to pay a renewal or other due amount may result in expiry, suspension, or removal of access.

AIM Ireland may change fees for future periods by giving reasonable notice before the next renewal or next payment becomes due.

10. Cancellations and refunds

You may contact us at any time if you wish to cancel a future renewal or end your membership at the end of the current paid period.

Unless we state otherwise in writing, membership fees already paid are generally non-refundable once the membership period has started and access has been granted, except where required by law.

Nothing in these Terms removes any statutory rights you may have.

Where a legal cancellation or withdrawal right applies, you should contact us within the relevant period. If you ask us to activate membership, portal access, digital resources, or other services immediately after purchase, you expressly request immediate performance and understand that this may affect your cancellation or refund rights to the extent permitted by law.

11. Lapsed memberships and terminated access

If a membership expires, is cancelled, or is terminated:

  • access to member-only resources, areas, and services may end immediately or after any grace period we decide to allow;
  • directory listings may be removed, unpublished, or marked inactive;
  • voting rights and member entitlements will cease;
  • any provisions that should reasonably continue after termination will remain in effect.

12. Member directory, profiles, and submitted content

Where we provide member profiles, directory listings, or similar visibility features:

  • you are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of the information you submit;
  • you must have the right to submit any logos, images, biographies, links, or other materials you provide;
  • you grant AIM Ireland a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, format, and use that material for the operation and promotion of the directory, membership services, and AIM Ireland activity;
  • visibility may depend on your tier, your settings, and our moderation decisions.

We may edit, moderate, refuse, suspend, or remove submitted material where we reasonably believe it is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, outdated, or inconsistent with AIM Ireland’s purpose.

Directory information and member-only resources must not be scraped, harvested, republished, or used for spam or unrelated commercial solicitation.

13. Events, training, and partner services

AIM Ireland may offer or promote events, training, briefings, discounts, campaigns, partner opportunities, or external services.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • availability is not guaranteed;
  • places may be limited;
  • eligibility may depend on tier, status, location, or other criteria;
  • event details, speakers, timings, venues, and access arrangements may change;
  • third-party organisers, venues, ticketing services, payment providers, or partners may apply their own terms and privacy notices.

AIM Ireland is not responsible for the acts, omissions, products, services, or policies of third-party providers, except where the law says otherwise.

14. Member benefits, offers, and information resources

We may provide updates, guides, templates, recordings, briefings, partner offers, and other resources for information and sector-support purposes.

Unless clearly stated otherwise:

  • these materials are provided on a general information basis only;
  • they do not constitute legal, financial, tax, employment, regulatory, or other professional advice;
  • you should take independent advice where needed;
  • benefits, offers, discounts, and resources may be changed, withdrawn, or replaced at any time.

15. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the website and AIM Ireland materials, including text, branding, graphics, design, layout, and original content, belong to AIM Ireland or its licensors unless otherwise stated.

You may view and use the website and AIM Ireland materials for your own lawful internal use in connection with AIM Ireland’s services.

You must not reproduce, republish, distribute, adapt, sell, license, or commercially exploit AIM Ireland content without prior written permission, except where the law allows it.

16. Third-party links and embedded content

Our website may include links to third-party websites, tools, platforms, ticketing systems, payment services, social media content, or embedded materials.

These are provided for convenience or operational purposes only. AIM Ireland does not control those third-party services and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or terms.

Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies.

17. Availability and service changes

We aim to keep the website and services available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that they will always be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.

We may add, remove, suspend, replace, or modify any part of the website, portal, membership structure, benefits, or services where reasonably necessary for operational, legal, technical, or strategic reasons.

18. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access, membership, or participation immediately or on notice where we reasonably believe that:

  • these Terms have been breached;
  • fees remain unpaid;
  • the account is being misused;
  • the user has provided false, misleading, or outdated information;
  • conduct is harmful to AIM Ireland, its members, staff, partners, systems, or reputation;
  • termination is required for legal, safeguarding, compliance, or security reasons.

Where appropriate, we may choose to issue a warning or allow a cure period before taking action, but we are not obliged to do so.

19. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AIM Ireland excludes liability for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or business losses, including loss of profits, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, data, or reputation arising from use of the website or services.

AIM Ireland’s total liability in relation to any paid service will, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the amount paid by you to AIM Ireland for the relevant service in the 12 months before the claim arose.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
