AIM Ireland is pleased to announce two new senior leadership appointments, strengthening its operations and capacity to support a growing membership base across the independent music sector.
Colm Hanley has been appointed to the new executive position of Managing Director, while Odhran O’Brien has been appointed as Head of Membership. The appointments are intended to support AIM Ireland’s long-term growth, enhance industry alignment, and increase support for members working across labels, management, live music, and wider music services.
AIM Ireland’s membership includes independent record labels, festival and venue promoters, management companies, and industry professionals who collectively support an estimated 10,000 jobs nationwide.
Alongside the two new appointments, Ciaran Conroy will continue as Finance Director and remains AIM Ireland’s representative on the boards of European music trade bodies.
“We are excited to welcome Colm and Odhran to our team,” said Joe Clarke, Chair of AIM Ireland. “Their expertise and passion for the Irish independent music sector will be critical as we expand in the years ahead. The global music industry has boomed in recent years, and AIM Ireland has developed a very strong base through education and advocacy. While there are huge opportunities out there we face increased challenges through continued consolidation at major label level, developments in AI and the narrowing of access to international markets. The independent sector is the backbone of Ireland’s music success, and we will be demonstrating this clearly in the years ahead.”
Colm Hanley added: “I am delighted to join AIM Ireland as part of this new leadership team. The independent sector in Ireland is full of innovation, creativity, and potential and celebrated on a global level. AIM Ireland represents music industry professionals in towns and cities across the country and I look forward to working closely with our members, partners, and the wider industry to building and supporting a stronger and more connected community.”
Through this new structure, AIM Ireland has outlined its strategic priorities, including:
- The inclusion of tax initiatives for investment in music in the next budget
- Funding to elevate Irish music businesses internationally through touring, collaborations, and showcases
- Funding to encourage artists to record in Ireland
- A levy on international music companies in Ireland to support the creation of Irish music
- Campaigning for increased Irish music to feature on licensed national and regional radio
Recent media coverage has also highlighted AIM Ireland’s interest in exploring a streaming-focused content levy and investment incentives, as part of a wider package to strengthen the domestic music economy.
